Corporate Social Responsibility

Al Fahim Group's most valuable asset is their commitment to the community. Since its inception, the Group has generously supported those in need and diligently sought opportunities that have enabled it to make a difference. Al Fahim Group's belief of giving something back to society stems from the late founder, Abdul Jalil Al Fahim, who strongly believed that to continue succeeding one must refuel society with moral and financial support. He sincerely valued Humanity, Honesty, Foresight and Substance, which he successfully passed on to his sons and daughters who abided by each of them to drive the organization forward.

In 2006, the Ruler of Sharjah and member of the Supreme Court, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qassimi, awarded Al Fahim Group the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work. In addition, Al Fahim Group received an appreciation award from General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Forces, for being a Golden Donor to the Emirates Foundation bestowing it with AED four million in 2007. Such acts and awards show the Group's compassion towards the less privileged, their religious roots and benevolent attitude.

Since 1996, the Group has annually presented monetary awards to high school graduates across UAE who have maintained an outstanding academic performance to encourage them to pursue higher studies through the Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment. Also, Al Fahim Group joined business interests with Knowledge Horizon Ltd. and signed as Gold sponsor of the Leadership Excellence Applied Diploma (LEAD), a program initiated by ALDAR, Knowledge Horizon and Cambridge University, to illustrate socially responsible investments pertaining to growth and sustainability of the UAE.

Moreover, business units in Al Fahim Group have carried out their own magnanimous contributions. As an example, Emirates Motor Company (EMC) biennially holds the EMC Art for Charity, a fund-raising art auction on behalf of children with special needs to promote art in the UAE and enhance the quality of life of disabled children. EMC has also launched campaigns in alliance with the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ Sub Committee of Traffic Week addressing the importance of road safety. Appealing children's books have been distributed by EMC to advise children on how to be cautious. As a result, EMC received the Silver Star Award from Daimler Mercedes-Benz in 2005 for innovative creations of tackling socially fatal issues in the community.

In addition, Al Fahim Group eagerly participates in teaching the public of preserving the environment. In collaboration with the Emirates Wildlife Society – World Wildlife Foundation (EWS-WWF) a campaign was held to educate the public of the significance of Ghaf groves. The aim of the campaign was to pave the way for an environmental awakening.

Moreover, Al Fahim Group helps employees build on their athletic skills and ensures a culture of appreciation is practiced. Basketball, cricket and soccer tournaments are held throughout the year to build teamwork and sportsmanship. Additionally, the Al Fahim family annually hosts the Al Fahim Long Service Awards Ceremony at their residence (majlis) – a ritual since the late 1980s – to show their appreciation for the long years employees have contributed to the growth of the organization.

Al Fahim Group regards CSR as part of their ethical and religious duty. It is a means of expressing their gratitude towards the community. Whether through the issuance of scholarship awards to promote higher learning and honor academic success, or charitable fundraisers to assist the less fortunate, Al Fahim Group is a generous and keen community benefactor.
