Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment
The Abdul Jalil Al Fahim & Family Endowment department solely administrates and executes the expenditure of aims-giving (zakat), charity, donations and welfare investing. The department has three sources of income; the endowment, a share in Al Fahim Group valued at AED 360 million in 2005, aims-giving and philanthropy (sadaka) as an extra amount to support various causes, individuals, international charitable organizations, such as the Red Crescent and promote a harmonious, ethical community.
From 2006 to 2008, the Endowment has contributed over AED 95 million. In 2007, the Endowment successfully helped 49 students, 511 organizations and 55,625 cases. In 2008, the total number of beneficiaries increased to 149 students, 200 organizations and 73,223 cases. In 2009, the Endowment contributed an amount of AED 6 million to support relief efforts to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and numerous other monetary charities such as AED 200,000 to Hamad Society in Bahrain.
In addition, the Endowment has many partnerships with institutions which assist in implementing programs for different initiatives; to name a few, UAE Red Crescent, Zakat Fund, Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian, Mohamed bin Rashed Foundation for Charitable Activities, Bait Al Kheir Dubai, Fujairah Charity Association, Charity Work Ajman and the Abu Dhabi Police Force.
The Endowment carries out various types of programs such as; sponsoring orphans, helping widows and divorced women, assisting patients unable to cover treatment costs, seasonal projects in Ramadan and Hajj, supporting special needs centres, maintaining mosques in the country and abroad, contributing to international relief programs, Abdul Jalil Bin Mohamed Al Fahim Prize for High School Achievers, supporting Abdul Jalil Al Fahim school in coordination with the Ministry of Education and awarding a Personality of the Year Award in Humanity and Philanthropy.
