Al Fahim Group Executive Leadership Program

On 7-8 May 2008, the first session of Al Fahim Group Executive Leadership Program was held at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort in Dubai. The overall goal of this initial session was for the Managing Director, and members of the management team, to review corporate and individual business unit strategic objectives and ensure their alignment with Alfahim values, as well as to strengthen cohesion amongst the committee members. 

This two-day retreat provided the Managing Director and his management team with the opportunity to take a break away from the day-to-day pressures of the business and be able to reflect, think, and plan as a team in a relaxed setting. 

During the first day of the session team members were involved in a number of activities, including examining the current state of affairs at Alfahim: what is working well, what areas need improvement and which are the core issues that need addressing. The management team also created a visual snapshot of Alfahim and its organizational culture 20 years ago, 10 years ago, and today and reflected on how Alfahim should look in the future. The exercises were designed to bring a shared sense and vision of how Alfahim has evolved as an organization. This enabled the management team to develop a clearer focus as to how to take Alfahim forward into the future, recognize the value each bring to this task and how to take the most advantage of their collective strengths in doing so. 

The greater part of the program was devoted to examining the focus of Alfahim strategy over the next three years. The ‘team’ identified the core value proposition and overriding economic objective for Alfahim. Based on this foundation, the ‘team’ began to build the strategy template that will enable Alfahim to turn its strategic goals into actions which are in alignment with and in support of each other, and will enable attainment of the economic objective. It was also stressed how this strategic plan must reflect the mission and values of Al Fahim Group. 

HE Saeed A.J. Al Fahim, Group Chairman, visited the session on the second day to provide support and guidance to the management team. 

Participants in this session of the Executive Leadership Program were: Mr. Rashed Al Fahim, Managing Director; Mr. Christopher Preston, Automotive CEO; Mr. Khaled Al Fahim, Products & Services CEO; Mr. Michael Clifford, CFO; Mr. Salem Al Zubaidi, Group HR & Admin GM; Mr. Tariq El Sadik, Chief Excellence Officer/CIO; Ms. Faiza Al Sayed, Group Purchasing Manager; Mr. Moutaz Kaissi, General Secretary of Projects Committee; Mr. Simon Padgett, Group Risk & Internal Audit Manager; Mr. Mahmoud Fadeel, Group Legal Advisor; and Ms. Sanaa Hassna, Office Manager - Chairman & Executive Directors Office. 

The program was facilitated by Ms. Tricia Evans, Management Coach and Ms. Jackie Schwarz, Managing Partner of Focus Management Consultancy, and was coordinated by Ms. Adrienne A. Reynolds, Manager, Learning and Development.
